Easy to set up and use

This was very easy to set up and adopt into HA to get readings there. The magnet mount works really well on our chest freezer, then the short temperature sensor worked great for getting inside the freezer.

The only (minor) issue I've had is that the ESPHome add-on hasn't picked it up for reasons unknown, but in theory I shouldn't need that, and it's not required for day-to-day operation.

Useless as a food probe

A food probe that cannot go beyond 185F is baffling. I don't know what sort of testing on this device went on before shipment, but this device is functionally useless. The battery drains to 0 in 3 days, even when it disconnects for 12 hrs a day

Hi John,

We appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration. We want to keep our community informed, so we have already sent out an announcement about the food probe temperature limitation. The issue was caused by a resistor affecting the maximum temperature range, capping it at ~190°F. We have already implemented a fix and will begin shipping updated units immediately. If you would like to exchange yours, just let us know, and we will get it processed for you.

The TEMP-1 was in beta testing for months, and the food probe was added based on user feedback. Regarding battery life, that is not normal behavior. Are you using a rechargeable RC-CR123A or 16340 battery with at least 3.7V? The sensor requires a rechargeable battery at this voltage to function properly.

We appreciate your support and are happy to help. We will make it right!

Love it!

I love the Apollo Temperature Sensor. I’ve been using it to monitor the temperature of food I have cooked in the oven. I’m able to easily set up Home Assistant automations that flash lights when certain temperatures are met. It’s worked out really well and has upped my cooking game. I can’t wait for Thanksgiving to roll around agin. This will really help with my turkey preparation.

Works great! Very satisfied.

As soon as I got my sensors, I added them to Home Assistant. They were very easy to add and the process went smooth. I can now monitor the temperature in my fridge and freezer to alert if the temperature becomes too warm. Thanks Apollo!
