The Apollo CAST-1 makes your non-smart speakers smart! The CAST-1 plugs into powered speakers, amplifiers, and AV receivers with a 3.5mm cable and allows them to connect to ESPHome and Music Assistant (via SendSpin). This lets you stream music, announcements, alarms, and more from your smart home to your existing speakers. 

The CAST-1 runs open source ESPHome firmware and supports SendSpin, the open audio streaming and synchronization protocol developed by the Open Home Foundation. SendSpin also lets you synchronize whole-home audio across multiple CAST-1 units, or a mixture of CAST-1 and other smart connected speakers, meaning you can walk from room to room enjoying your music, all playing perfectly in sync. 

You can connect the CAST-1 over Wi-Fi or with the optional Ethernet HAT for a wired connection. 

The CAST-1 also has an onboard RGB LED, acts as a Bluetooth proxy, and has GPIO available to connect an addressable RGB LED strip.

Product Details

The CAST-1 uses the TI PCM5122, a 32-bit DAC, for the audio connection to your speaker. There are also exposed GPIO pins for connecting an addressable RGB LED strip if you'd like to add some lighting effects to your music.

The CAST-1 is 45 x 45 x 15 mm, making it a tiny device that is easy to hide behind your audio equipment.

The firmware for the CAST-1 is completely open source, and you are able to modify and extend it yourself through the ESPHome add-on.
