How It Works
Plug in a module with the included FPC cable, then use the new ESPHome Desktop app to configure your device through a visual editor. No YAML knowledge required. Use the kit standalone or connect it to Home Assistant for deeper automations. By the end you'll have built a motion sensor, notification light, environment monitor, and automation trigger. Use any two modules at the same time to turn the starter kit into a multisensor. Every module is a real product you'll keep using in your home, or sits on your desk showing off the ESPHome logo.

Built on Open Home Principles
Everything runs locally. Your data stays yours. No cloud required, no subscriptions, no accounts. That's privacy.
Every module works with ESPHome, Home Assistant, and open standards like Thread. Zigbee is also possible at the chip level for advanced users. No vendor lock-in. Mix, match, and build what you want. That's choice.
When you're done learning, nothing goes in a drawer. Every module is a real product you'll keep using in your home, or sits on your shelf showing off the ESPHome logo. Open hardware you can repurpose, modify, and keep using. That's sustainability.
The majority of profit from every kit goes directly to the Open Home Foundation, supporting the future of ESPHome, Home Assistant, and over 250 open source projects that put people first.
Why ESPHome?
ESPHome turns inexpensive microcontrollers into capable devices without writing a single line of code. No C++, no Arduino IDE. With this kit, you'll use a visual editor to configure real devices in minutes. But simple does not mean limited. ESPHome supports hundreds of sensors, displays, switches, lights, and components out of the box. It powers everything from DIY temperature monitors to commercially certified products from manufacturers around the world. Your devices work 100% locally with no cloud, no accounts, and no one collecting your data. And because ESPHome is an Open Home Foundation project, it's backed by one of the largest open source smart home communities in the world, with active development, extensive documentation, and thousands of community members ready to help.
