Initially I had trouble calibrating the mmWave sensor, it took me a while to understand the concept and decide on an approach. My use case is very simple (use it as an improved PIR sensor), and for that many capabilities are not needed, so I got confused as to what to configure and whatnot.
Otherwise the sensor is pretty good, very small and the stand is very sturdy. Everything worked flawlessly. Support was very helpful and even though I asked many questions they were still patient.
Not 5 stars but four because (1) I couldn't get it work just as fast as a PIR and (2) the docs in my opinion should have more straightforward use cases. But that will probably happen soon enough.
The sensors are fantastic, but the stand is much more delicate than expected. Similar to other reviewers after snapping the ball in place to try to pivot it snapped. Oh well, love the sensors but not so much the stand.
Chris,
Thank you for your honest feedback and for sharing your experience with the MSR-2 Sensor Stand. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying the sensors, but we’re sorry the stand didn’t meet your expectations. We’d like to make it right by either sending you a new stand or refunding your purchase. We’re also re-checking the design to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Please let us know your preference, and if you have any other concerns, we’re here to help.

The information that the MSR-2 (and stand) provides makes it easy to setup automations that enhance day to day usage of other platforms. Currently, I have it automating a smart display that will turn off / on based on standing in a spot for X seconds. This turns on the display so its only showing when someone is standing there, and turns off shortly after it stops detecting a presence. PIR sensors would not able to do this effectively. I'm just getting into what the MSR-2 can offer and looking forward to other automations that are capable.
When I received the stand, I inserted the ball portion into the receiver portion, and it snapped in with a nice click. I then tried to rotate the ball in the receiver. At first it wouldn't rotate as I put slowly increasing pressure on the piece with the ball until... it snapped. It was about 30 seconds from when I first touched the stand parts to one part turning into garbage. Admittedly, I might have gone about the process differently, but I new I could print what I needed. I don't know why, but the new ball fits better, if maybe a little too loose. Anyway, that's my story. All good in the end.
