The Apollo Automation NFC-1 is an ESPHome-powered NFC reader and writer that connects to Home Assistant. Scan any NFC tag or card, and it shows up instantly as a Home Assistant tag event, ready to run an automation.

It also writes URLs, text, or brand-new Home Assistant tags right from your dashboard, then clean or format tags to reuse them. You can even turn on Card Emulation and the NFC-1 becomes a tag itself, so any phone can tap it to open a link or launch the Home Assistant app.

It is built around the NXP PN7160 NFC controller and an ESP32-C6, the NFC-1 gives instant feedback with an RGB LED and buzzer. It also works as a Bluetooth proxy to extend Home Assistant’s Bluetooth reach.
  • Tap-to-run scenes: Put tags by the door, bed, or desk to arm the alarm, start “Good Night,” or switch on work mode with one tap.
  • Guest Wi-Fi and links: Use Card Emulation so visitors tap their phone on the NFC-1 to open your guest page, a menu, or any URL. No app needed.
  • Who’s home check-ins: Give each family member a card or keychain tag and trigger personalized automations when they scan in.
  • Tag programming station: Write, verify, clean, and format NTAG and MIFARE tags from your Home Assistant dashboard, with no phone app required.
  • Bluetooth coverage boost: Place it where Bluetooth is weak and let the built-in proxy relay nearby BLE sensors and devices to Home Assistant.
