The PLT-1B does not include a battery or charger due to shipping constraints. Users will need to source their own rechargeable 18650 for the battery version and a charger. Battery life is estimated at 6 months based on a quality rechargeable 18650 and the default sleep / wake settings.

The PLT-1 is an indoor plant multisensor that measures soil moisture, air temperature, humidity, LUX, and UV. It also features an onboard piezo buzzer and addressable RGB LED. Soil temperature can be measured using the optional temperature probe add-on. The sensor comes in a battery (B) and non-battery version, with the non-battery version being significantly smaller.

The PLT-1 uses a capacitive soil moisture sensor, which offers much better accuracy and durability compared to resistive sensors. Additionally, the ground contact portion is protected with a conformal coating, ensuring longevity and resistance to environmental factors.

  • Temperature & Humidity Management: Track air temperature and humidity with the AHT20-F sensor, adjusting indoor climate controls (like fans, heaters, or humidifiers) to maintain ideal growing conditions.
  • Soil Temperature Monitoring: Use the optional waterproof soil temperature probe to monitor and control soil warmth for temperature-sensitive plants, especially in colder months.
  • Visual & Audio Alerts: The RGB LED can be programmed for visual notifications, such as turning red when soil is dry or green when conditions are optimal. The piezo buzzer can alert you if immediate action is needed.

Add-on-itus is a real thing!

Six months ago, I picked up an Apollo Automations PLT-1 to help keep the one lonely plant in my office alive—and it worked like a charm! With seamless integration into Home Assistant, I was able to set up automations that kept the soil moisture at ideal levels. The setup was smooth, and the sensor’s accuracy impressed me right away.

Fast forward to today, and I now have 11 of these sensors deployed—2 PLT-1s and 9 of the PLT-1B models—across a growing indoor jungle of happy, thriving plants. The PLT-1B sensors have been incredibly reliable, easy to maintain, and a joy to integrate into my smart home setup.

These devices have completely changed how I care for my plants. No more guessing or overwatering. I highly recommend them to anyone using Home Assistant who wants healthy plants without the hassle.

A very beautiful product and very well made!

Unfortunately, importing it into Germany was very complicated and took several weeks, but that wasn't the sender's fault, it was the fault of the German authorities.

It was super easy to place the order. It was very clear what additional items needed to be purchased in order to make this a turnkey solution.It arrived at my door quickly and setup was a breeze. This was my first time using ESP-32 devices and it couldn’t more easy to adopt once home assistant was setup.

Amazing product :)

Very easy setup, Instantly linked with HA. The camouflage green makes it practically invisible. The sensors seems very accurate.

Overall very satisfied, and I'll definitely order more in the future!

Best plant sensor as of 2024

I consider this the best plant sensor all around, I suggest to add as an optional the conductivity sensor.
