Come Say Hello at IFA Berlin, Open Home Foundation, Hall 1.2-153
We are going to IFA Berlin, September 4 through 8. Apollo will be at the Open Home Foundation booth in Hall 1.2-153 as their guests.
We went last year and it was a great week. We met community members who have been running our sensors for years, put faces to names we only knew from Discord, and got real time with partners we normally only email.

The people you should really come for
The foundation is bringing the people who build the software most of us use every day, and they have set aside time each day for anyone who wants to talk.
Friday the 4th, 3:00 to 3:30pm Paulus, Open Home Foundation President. Frenck, Lead of Home Assistant. Joost, Developer Relations.
Saturday the 5th, 3:00 to 3:30pm Melissa, Lead of Community. Missy, Community Manager. And community volunteers.

Tuesday the 8th, 12:00 to 12:30pm Niels, Product Manager. Frenck, Lead of Home Assistant.

Come meet Trevor
Trevor, one of our co-founders, will be at the booth. He does the engineering, the firmware, and most of the design work, so if you have a question about how any of our devices actually work, he is the one to ask.
He is also speaking on Monday the 7th at 3:00pm alongside Carl, Nabu Casa's VP of Commercial. Worth stopping in for if you are curious about what it looks like to build hardware around open source software.
Outside of that slot he will be around the booth through the week. Come tell him what you have built, what is broken, or what you wish existed. Those conversations are where a lot of our products have started. The MSR-2 exists because people kept telling us the first one was too big. Feedback from someone standing in front of you tends to be more useful than anything else we get.
What we are bringing
We will have the ESPHome Starter Kit with us, so come get some hands on time with it! The modules snap apart, one ribbon cable connects everything, and there is no soldering.
If you have been thinking about building your own smart home devices and did not know where to start, come find us and we will show you.
Nabu Casa will be at the booth with their Home Assistant devices as well!
Why this one means a lot to us
Apollo exists because of the work these teams do.
We built our business on top of ESPHome and Home Assistant. Without them we would be a couple of guys tinkering in a basement. The Open Home Foundation has spent years keeping that software open and community owned, built around privacy, choice, and sustainability.
We are incredibly grateful to be invited to their booth.
